Scroll Integrates Chainlink CCIP
Zero-knowledge rollup Scroll has integrated Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). With native access to CCIP, developers can now build secure and innovative decentralized applications on Scroll, expanding the multi-chain ecosystem, according to a press release shared with The Block on Thursday.
Selection Rationale
Scroll has chosen CCIP as its preferred interoperability solution due to Chainlink’s proven track record of maintaining high security and reliability standards in the blockchain industry.
Features of Chainlink’s CCIP
Chainlink’s CCIP provides developers with tools to build secure applications that enable:
– Token transfers
– Messaging
– Action initiation across multiple blockchains.
Its Programmable Token Transfers feature allows smart contracts to send tokens across chains, including specific instructions for processing them upon arrival, all in a single transaction.
Developer Advantages
"Chainlink CCIP is an industry standard, and Scroll’s integration here provides our developers with scalable, secure, and flexible infrastructure, enhancing our builders’ ability to develop even better cross-chain applications," said Scroll co-founder Sandy Peng. "With its level-5 security and battle-tested infrastructure, CCIP strengthens Scroll’s interoperability across ecosystems securely, without compromising user experience."
About Scroll
Scroll is a scaling solution for Ethereum that uses zero-knowledge proofs to enhance Ethereum’s capacity and performance. As a Layer 2 rollup network, it improves accessibility and responsiveness while supporting many users.
Chainlink Labs has facilitated over $15 trillion in transactions, as noted in a release, and partnerships have been established with Taurus, Fidelity International, and crypto bank Sygnum this year.
Importance of L2s
“L2s like Scroll are essential for easing congestion and increasing the efficiency of the Ethereum ecosystem,” said Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs. “In August of last year, Scroll joined the Chainlink Scale program, and in November, Chainlink Data Feeds went live on Scroll. The addition of CCIP for cross-chain enablement is an exciting moment and a logical next step in our collaborative efforts for the industry's benefit.”
